The Studio
Steamberry Studio is an Australia based indie production team with a love for narrative driven games. Our current focus is creating fun visual novels with creative stories, engaging characters, and beautiful artwork.
We are trying to push the envelope when it comes to the quality of content people expect from Western and Indie visual novels. In a recent survey we did, people consistently expressed lower expectations for Indie titles versus titles from larger, known companies. And while that can certainly be good for us if we're going to smash those expectations, we don't want to have to mimic Japanese games to get people to notice us or expect good things from us. We want to improve what people expect from otomes and visual novels developed outside of Japan.
Western developers are capable of writing good stories and making good games. We hope to demonstrate that with our game.
The People
Sprocket and Esh have known each other for over a decade, and have worked on numerous art and writing projects together before finally deciding to team up to produce visual novels.
The name Steamberry stems from a mutual love of the steampunk aesthetic (which will hopefully appear in future games!) and Esh's overwhelming love for strawberries. It's a combination that couldn't be denied, despite that steam powered strawberries probably aren't good to eat. Even with a cup of tea.
Though we're currently just two people who love to torture characters and make dumb jokes, together, we're pretty good at wreaking havoc and creating epic silliness. And, hopefully, creating realistic characters with stories that pull players in.
